SPRING!!!

Today it was 60 degrees AND the sun was shining on and off all day!!!

I am so ready for spring......this winter has been really miserable.  My body doesn't do well in the cold AT ALL!

I had my hubby pull out my spring decorations from the garage yesterday so I decided to change things up!

I am joining Marty for Table Top Tuesday!!

But first I thought I would share a MAJOR praise.  This is where I found my Dad today.  He is a painter by trade...(handy to have around for sure) but after chemo and maintenance doses of prednisone,My Father had cataracts form that were so thick, that he has been legally blind for almost a year!  Needless to say, he hasn't been able to do much for quite some time.

We were recently given the go ahead by his Doctor to have the surgery and now both eyes are seeing 20/20 again! He has also been cancer free for over a year now!

He is cutting a paint swatch to match the color of the wall,so he can touch it up. There used to be a baby  gate at the top of the stairs to keep the Grandkids from tumbling down them.  The youngest is now 6, so the gate was taken down, and holes were patched. It's ready to be sanded and painted!!!  It is SOOO good to see him up and doing some of the things he previously enjoyed!  I Love him so much!!

Okay!!!  Enough with the mushy stuff and on to the table tops!

This is what the stereo cabinet looked like before.

Here is the After.

I used things that I already had.  The cross was re-purposed from my St. Patrick's day display.

I need to look for some lighter colored or neutral books for under the lamp.  The eggs are glittery!  You know me....I can't resist something if it's sparkly!

This is how the book case next to the piano looked before.  I know.........boring!

This is the top after.  Recognize the little green birds, from my Hobby Lobby trip?  I just love them!!

I like the nest and books better closer together.  Both the nest and the candle stick were from the Goodwill.  Books were off the bookcase.

I had to throw these in here because it's going on Marty's  party page.  Marty is always cleaning her silver "finds" with Tarn-x and transforming otherwise yucky pieces into something wonderful.  So here are the Goodwill candle sticks I found months ago "before" on the right and "after" on the Left!!!  Aren't they gorgeous???

Thanks Marty, for always showing us your lovely silver finds.  This is my FIRST time using tarn-x!

Here is a picture of the buffet before.  It looks DARK for fall.

Now MUCH lighter for Spring.  I need some flowers or something green....but it's a start!

I have also decided to join these lovely ladies' parties.  Please take time to visit some of the other blogs as well.  :)

My Bedroom.

I figured it was about time I showed you all my bedroom.  Not just part of it.......the whole thing.  There are parts of my bedroom that I love, and parts that I don't!

I was hoping if I showed all you lovely ladies in blog land what I have, you could help me figure out what I need to make it work better and look prettier.

So, here goes!!

I Love My bedding, and I like the shape of the lamps and the shade, but I think the lamps are too small.  What do you think?
Remember my trip to Hobby Lobby?  This is the "M" I found there, and the wall quote came from Tuesday Morning. I promised you all that I would show you what I had in mind for it!  Sorry it took me so long. I would still like a headboard though, but don't know what style to go with.  I lean toward upholstered with tufting, or maybe wrought iron?  I just don't know.
In the left corner, is my husband's guitar amp and my hope chest.  I believe I am going to paint the hope chest, and give it to my Daughter.  It was my Grandmothers and she gave it to me when I was about 9.  I still don't know what to do with the guitar amp.
I love my wall crosses.  I found them at the Salvation Army and they remind me of Calvary!
I thought I would show you my side of the bed, while I enjoy the last days of my roses.  They smelled so wonderful!
Not brave enough to show you the inside of our closet!
This is my Husband's armoire.  I know it is a bit dated.  It was a hand-me-down from his Aunt, and it has seen better days.  The vanity needs to go, there just isn't enough room in here for it.  It makes me sad, but I am tired of it just taking up space.  I love the star lantern on the vanity, but I don't know what to do with it.
Guitars are stowed in the left corner, and the children leave their bibles in here.  They are normally stored on the top of my dresser.  For whatever reason, the kids insist on gathering for our bible study in Mom and Dad's room.  The family room is MUCH larger, but they prefer to be in here with us.  They bring in folding chairs and gather around the bed.  We usually end up cuddling in here and watching T.V. for a bit afterward and before bed.
The furniture has suited our needs and served their purpose for many years now, but are completely not my taste.  I don't like the wood color, and was thinking maybe with a coat of paint they could be re-purposed into something I like a little better.  Do you think it is worth the effort?
My dresser.  It doesn't normally look like this.  It has the Lenten altar for family worship on it right now.  Notice all the scuffs and scratches.  The dogs did this when they were puppies!  I think I can fill it and sand it, and you won't even notice.
I was thinking about replacing the hardware with antique brass hardware?
Love the area rug, it used to be in our living room at the old house.  I think it "works" in here.
Close up of the bedding.
I love the candle sticks, and the medallion.  I don't like the jewelry box, but haven't found anything else stylish to replace it with.  Any ideas?
I sent away for my free Valspar paint sample, and this is the color I was thinking about for the furniture.  Now I am worried about it being too dark.  I just don't know.
Here is the color next to the bedding.
Can you picture it on the furniture?  If so, what do you think?  Now that you have seen the things I love, what would you call my style?  I have always said "masculine" or "tailored" and "old world"  But in the realm of traditional, contemporary, eclectic, I don't know where I fit.  I know I am not Country, or Shabby Chic, or even feminine. LOL  What would you call it?

Hobby Loby trip.

After my Mother brought my Father home from having cataract surgery and getting him comfy in bed, we decided to stop by Hobby Lobby.

I brought home these great little treasures.

I have a slight obsession with all things monogrammed, and the birdies all over blog land are quickly becoming an obsession too.  :)

I  saw some of the cutest bunnies while shopping!

This was my favorite!  I resisted the impulse to pick him up, and take him home.  Isn't he just the sweetest!?  My Mother thought I was loosing my mind.....Birds AND Bunnies?  I must be getting soft in my old age!  LOL

Typically this is the thing I go for.  Sorry for the awful iPhone picture.

I like large architectural items, old world, wrought iron, warm autumn colors, Tuscan inspired decor, traditional furniture with a contemporary twist, paisleys, men's suiting, tufting, bullion fringe, tassels, tailored, not frilly, or fussy.  How exactly does the bunny work with my style?  Not exactly sure!  But I sure did like him.  :0)

Maybe my tastes are changing?  Maybe after a long, hard, Chicago winter, I am just so looking forward to spring that bunnies and birdies are becoming irresistible!  Or maybe all you lovely ladies out in blogland are rubbing off on me???  Who knows.......

Blessings <3 Paula

P.S.   Since I don't have a headboard, I think I will be hanging the "M" above my bed, with a wall quote I bought a gillion years ago for my bedroom.  I wanted to make an upholstered headboard, but with my hubby currently looking at employment out of state I thought that I would put that project on hold.  I will show you tomorrow how it turned out!
